MRV
Measurement, Reporting, and Verification. The infrastructure for confirming that claimed carbon removal actually occurred and stays removed. MRV maturity is a precondition for several CDR pathways to operate at gigaton scale.
The infrastructure for verifying that claimed carbon removal actually occurred, that the removed carbon stays out of the atmosphere for the claimed duration, and that the credit system reflects real outcomes. MRV stands for Measurement, Reporting, and Verification. Its maturity is a precondition for ocean alkalinity enhancement, enhanced rock weathering, and biomass burial to operate at gigaton scale; without trustworthy MRV, the credit prices that fund those methods do not hold.
