The Electrification Cascade

The sequenced process by which combustion-based sectors (cement, steel, ammonia, shipping, aviation, heating, transport) are pulled across to clean electricity as cost thresholds fall.

The sequenced process by which sectors built around combustion get pulled across to clean electricity as cost thresholds fall. Cement, steel, ammonia, shipping fuel, aviation, heating, and transport each have a crossover threshold beyond which electrification becomes the cheapest option, triggering deployment. The cascade is the order in which sectors cross those thresholds.
